About.
Hi, I’m Kris. I build things. I’m an engineering manager. I’ve led teams of different sizes across different stages, from early product through scale. I partner with strong product folks.
The team comes first. The people shipping the work are the ones that matter. Good teams have clear owners. Someone owns every outcome. We build trust over time, between people, between teams, and with the work itself. When trust is high we take on hard problems together. When it’s low nothing else works.
Proactive beats reactive. That runs through the work and the rest.
When I’m building software
- PurposeWhat are we actually doing, and why now?
- ExecutionWhat is the best way to get it done?
- ResponsivenessHow do we stay loose enough to change course when reality changes the plan?
Writing
This is where I write. Short observations from work. Notes on tradeoffs. Half-formed posts I publish anyway. Longer pieces when the idea is ready.
I don’t know why I do this. I don’t know where I am. It feels necessary.
